The Leominster Art Center & Gallery will foster an ability in local artists to promote and displaytheir artistic talents in a variety of creative mediums. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Sharleen grew up with her parents and younger brother. Her mother owned a home daycare and always encouraged her and the children to be creative through crafts. Her father inspired her to always do her best, and her teachers taught her to never give up in life.
It was through a special friend that Sharleen realized she wanted to pursue her drawing skills. She declared her major (Illustration) at the end of her senior year in high school and attended the New Hampshire Institute of Art (NHIA). She took a variety of classes such as studying and creating the graphic novel, reading and writing the short story, web design, figure drawing, digital illustration, and an independent watercolor study. In 2010 she received her bachelors’ degree and has done several small private commissions since then.
In August 2012, Sharleen joined a community gallery, the Leominster Art Center and Gallery (LACG), where she volunteers her time and where her work is displayed. Not long after, she was approved and voted into the board of directors, currently made up of five people. Today, she lives with her father and brother, as well as two adorable cats. If Sharleen is not working on a commission, she is usually looking for work or working on a piece of her own.
